Volunteer

With all the buildings, vehicles, and equipment to maintain on our 160 acre plot of land, there's a huge amount of work to be done at Yokoji. There is always more to do - guest groups to prepare for, serve and clean up after, brush to clear, wood to stain, food to cook. This is where you can help.

Sign up for our volunteer email list to stay in the loop for upcoming events where your help is needed. By volunteering at the Center, your hours will be logged and credit accumulated which can be used for sesshin and other events.

• 1 hour of work = 1 credit earned
• 1 day of sesshin / selected all day event = 6 credits redeemed (members rate)
• 1 day of sesshin / selected all day event = 8 credits redeemed (non-members rate)

The credits are redeemable only for sesshin and selected workshops. Members can stay overnight for free if they work all day and non-members can stay for the discounted rate of $40.00 if they work all day. If you choose to stay overnight, no credits from that day of work will be used for the accommodation. If you work all day and stay overnight, you will still get credits for the hours worked, plus the opportunity to stay for a discounted (non-members) rate or for free (members). The regular overnight fee is $40.00 for members and $80.00 for non-members.

Please email or call the office to schedule when you would like to come and work, and to find out what we need doing at that time. Please let us know, also, if you have any injuries or conditions which prevent you from doing certain types of work. The Yokoji office will log your hours for you in a database, keeping track of how many credits you have built up and when you choose to redeem them.
